Hot Time in the City...
New York City, that is.... Merlin, Joule Electrac, and JPS Labs
at the 2004 Home Entertainment Show!

Well its warm and muggy, my ankles are sore form standing for hours, and I'm surrounded by the best HiFi gear on the planet, and I get a great fresh bagel for breakfast everyday . . . this must be New York City in may and I must be at the 2004 Primedia/Stereophile Home Entertainment show. As usual for your truly, I could be found hanging out at the end hall on the 6th floor in the Merlin Music Systems, Joule-Electra, JPS Labs room doing my usual thing helping out set-up and run the room. In fact, Signature Sound provided the Audio Aero Capitole 24/192 MKII CD player that was used as the front end in our room. In addition to spinning some tunes every now and then (that is really Bobby Palkovic of Merlin's specialty), I get to do other wonderful tasks (like setting up the Joule VZN-100 OTL amps, mounting room treatments, etc. etc.). Despite our seemingly out of the way location, lots of people managed to find the room and there was often standing room only. For those of you who couldn't attend, I put together this vignette above to give you an idea of what the room was like. Our system for this show consisted of a Piano Black pair of VSM-MX speakers which were complimented by the Piano Black Joule Electra VZN-100MKIV monoblock OTL power amplifiers, Joule Electra LA-150 line stage preamp, Audio Aero Capitole 24/192 MKII CD player, and cabling from JPS Labs (including some incredibly natural sounding prototype Aluminata series speaker cables and interconnects).
