REGA RESEARCH SCOOP!

Rega Research, those folks from the UK who make highly valued and high value HiFi gear (such as the ever popular Planar 3 turntable and the Planet CD Player) have just announced a major revision of their whole electronics line up! I have known that this has been in the works for over a year now, but I was sworn to secrecy until recently when I received the official details from USA Rega Importer, Lauerman Audio Imports. The familiar and compact cast aluminum clamshell chassis will be done away with to make way for a new, slightly larger, chassis which uses aluminum extrusion technology. The pictures you see below are not the greatest, but they are all I can get my hands on at this time and give a good glimpse of the very handsome new look for the Rega Research electronics line up.

The New Rega Research Mira 2000 Integrated Amp

The picture above shows the front of the new Rega Mira 2000 Integrated amp and the picture below shows the new Planet 2000 CD Player. From these pictures you can tell that Rega has again standardized cosmetics with one basic chassis which will be used throughout its whole product line. The new Planet (as well as the new Jupiter) will once again have the familiar top loading transport design as you can see in the picture below. The new electronics line up will consist of the: Planet 2000 CD Player; Jupiter CD Player; Mira 2000 Integrated Amp; Brio 2000 Integrated Amp; Maia 2000 Power Amp; Cursa 2000 Preamp; and Radio 2000 Tuner. You will notice that the Jupiter and IO separates are gone! Why? The larger chassis allows Rega to fit more inside so that both the Jupiter and IO are now in one box. Additional improvements have been added to all the products (especially the Planet and Jupiter which have received multiple upgrades) as well. The only bad news here is that prices have gone up several to ten percent on average. The Planet, Brio and Mira 2000 models will be available first in mid/late September with the rest to follow in October. According to my sources the new Planet 2000 rivals the performance of the old Jupiter/Io combo. I have listed some info on the new Mira, Brio, Jupiter, & Planet products below.

Rega Mira 2000 Integrated amp has the following features:
